William Koenig was born 18 Jul 1880 in Military Twp. He moved to Bloomfield Twp with the family when he was four years old and lived there the rest of his life. He was the son of Wilhelm Koenig and Charlotte Johann-Meier
Koenig. Wilhelm and Charlotte were the immigrant ancestors who came from Levern, Province of Mecklenberg, Germany, to America in 1872.
They were the parents of 9 children: Louise (Kaiser), Louis, Minnie (Rose, Poesch), Mary (Schroeder), Rosina (Ruckdaschel), William, Lena (Christofferson), Fred and Emma.
William Koenig married Emma Schroeder 10 Sep 1918 at Decorah, IA. Emma was born 12 Mar 1893 in Grand Meadow Twp, Clayton Co, IA. They lived on the farm in Section 23, Bloomfield Twp all their married life. William farmed with horses all the time he farmed. Emma enjoyed gardening, and did a lot of crocheting and sewing. She helped with the milking when they still milked by hand. She raised chickens. When it was time for butchering, she helped with that and canned all the meat to be used for feeding the family.
William and Emma were the parents of 5 children: Charlotte married Rueben Henning and lives in Decorah. She is the mother of Janice Gossman, Leslie Henning, Marilyn Lysne and Dean Henning. Orville married Irene Bachelder and lives near Castalia. They are the parents of Sally Conway, Mark (deceased), Reid, Gale and Lon. Chrvstal (Longerbeam) lives in Cedar Rapids, IA. Merlin (m. Patricia Albright) is deceased. He was the father of Darwin, Cynthia Gardner, Randall (deceased), Donna Balk and Paul. Marian (m. Ray Shafer) lives near Waukon, IA. Their daughter is Mary Sarelson.
William Koenig died 7 Feb 1972 at Postville. Emma died 23 Apr 1979 at her home near Castalia. They are buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery near Castalia.

Karl Koeneman, son of Robert and Kathryn (Finholt) Koeneman, was born in Minneapolis, MN. He was baptized in his mother's home town church, First Lutheran, 5 Feb 1961 by Pastor N.O. Nelson, with Stanley Finholt and Mr. And Mrs. Donald Pfister as Godparents -brother and cousin of Kathy. He went through school in Sheridan, WY where he was active in his favorite sports: baseball, football and fishing. At 15 years of age he was in a motorcycle accident from which he spent several years recovering.
Louise Cotton, daughter of Leon and Mary Elizabeth (Dunn) Cotton of Cheyenne, WY attended Cheyenne schools.
Karl and Louise met in Cheyenne and eventually moved to Decorah to be near Karl’s mother and stepfather, Clay and Kathy Arbogast. They were married 4 Feb 1989 at Decorah Lutheran Church.
Karl went into the roofing business naming his company, Watertight Roofing, operating out of his home. Louise worked at Country Kitchen and Aase Haugen Home until their baby daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth, was born in Greeley, CO during a visit home.
Karl spent many hours exploring the area, fishing the streams with his step-father, Clay and his grandfather, Orlando Finholt and nephew, Daniel Roberts. They all
